Chateau Konopiště
50 minut by car

Konopiště Chateau is a little farther from the Mill, but absolutely worth the trip. It showcases a range of architectural styles and a stunning chateau park. Because it was originally a castle, part of the old moat survives, and today it's home to bears. The chateau is best known as the last residence of Archduke Franz Ferdinand d'Este, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne. A passionate hunter, the Archduke filled its interiors with hunting trophies. You may also have seen Konopiště on screen: Czech films such as “Jára Cimrman ležící, spící”, “Jak se budí princezny” and “Jáchyme, hoď ho do stroje!” were shot here.
